Last month, I had the pleasure of participating in author Melissa McClone's Fisher House Foundation charity event, Authors with Heart. Keep reading for more on this amazing organization as well as my contribution to Melissa's efforts!
The Fisher House Foundation provides military and veteran families with complimentary housing while a loved one is in the hospital. These homes can be found all over the world and are conveniently located at VA and medical centers. The foundation has saved families an estimated $547 million in travel and lodging costs, and in addition, provides grants to other organizations designed to support families of fallen and disabled veterans.
This year, Melissa McClone teamed up with Fisher House for a very special Mother's Day giveaway, branded Authors with Heart. A number of Melissa's writer friends, including myself, filled lovely thermal tote bags with our books, swag, beauty products, yummy goodies, and other fun items. The event kicked off in May, and gifts were distributed in July after over 15,616 participants entered to win.
Along with donating books/various items, some of us sponsored individual tote bags and highlighted our latest releases, which were also included for readers to enjoy. My spotlighted book was THE HEART-SHAPED MURDERS. I'm currently being featured over on Melissa's blog, and the spotlight includes a giveaway. CLICK HERE to check it out!
Melissa has shared how much these giveaways mean to the recipients. For me, there is nothing more satisfying than bringing joy to those who are in the midst of challenging times.
Next up, I'll be participating in Melissa's epic Sweet Christmas Reads giveaway, which takes place in December. For this event, a host of authors will donate books and other prizes to Melissa's Troopers Reader Group and make guest appearances on her social media platforms. Participants will get the scoop on our 2022 holiday novels and find out more about the Christmas-themed prize packs, which will be handed out at the end of the month. Stay tuned for more info!
