The excitement of seeing my book announcements being reported in Publishers Marketplace never gets old. It's a nice reminder that a project I've been working so hard complete is finally coming to fruition. Needless to say, I was thrilled when my upcoming novel with Harlequin Intrigue was mentioned in their "Latest Deals" listing earlier this summer.
Keep reading to learn more about the huge role Publishers Marketplace plays in the literary world, and to get the scoop on my romantic suspense novel.
In case you're unfamiliar with Publishers Marketplace, it is the premiere publication for all the latest news in the publishing world. This industry staple is a professional tool used by thousands of editors, agents, rights professionals, publishers, authors and more every day. According to the website, it is "the biggest and best dedicated marketplace for publishing professionals to find critical information and unique databases, find each other, and to do business better electronically."
Having a book deal announced in Publishers Marketplace is a great way to inform industry insiders as well as fellow authors and readers of your upcoming projects. My official announcement in PM with Harlequin reads:
The working title of my novel is RUNNING OUT OF TIME, but that may change. I just recently submitted a few other suggestions to my editor, so I look forward to settling on an official title. Once that's done, I'll post it here.
The story takes place in Gattenburg, which is a fictitious small town located outside of Chicago, Illinois. The plot involves a true crime blogger, a cold case mystery, deadly street drugs, corrupt cops, a drug cartel, and plenty of twists and turns!
Of course there's a love story brewing underneath the surface of the murder mystery, with a beautiful, inquisitive writer and a handsome, tenacious detective coming together to crack a case. Here's the official pitch:
True crime blogger Samantha Vincent is determined to get to the bottom of an old friend's cold case murder. Can she convince devoted police detective Gregory Harris to turn on his own in order to help her catch a killer?
I am currently working to edit a 2000+ word proposal down to 500 words for the book's back cover copy. That will be the official synopsis. Once it's complete I'll post the blurb here as it'll contain much more of the story's details.
Harlequin's art department is in the process of designing the book cover. Once it's been approved I will post it here as well. I can't wait to see and share it with everyone!
Stay tuned as there's more to come, including deets on my upcoming suspense series.
